Odunlade Adekola Joins 2017 QMA as  Guest Judge

Organisers of the 2017 Queen Móremí Àjàsorò (QMA) Cultural Pageant have announced popular Yoruba actor, Odunlade Adekola, as one of the judges for the competition’s audition which will take place from Monday, October 30 to Wednesday, November 1, 2017, at the Kings Palace, Enuwa, Ile Ife, Osun State.

The QMA is an annual pageant set up to immortalise the legacy of the revered Queen Móremí Àjàsorò, a symbol of valor amongst the Yorubas. She’s believed to have single-handedly delivered her people from perpetual marauding invaders in the 12th century. 

Expected at the audition are the over 600 ladies of Yoruba extraction from ages 18-25, who already applied online. The competition requires contestants to exhibit the virtues of Queen Móremí by demonstrating their natural beauty, intellectual and entrepreneurial acumen. 

According to the Cultural Ambassador of QMA, Princess Ronke Ademiluyi, the winner of the competition will emerge at the grand finale slated to hold on December 3, this year at the Oriental Hotel, Lagos and receive N5 million investment fund, a brand new car and a chance to become a Yoruba Cultural Ambassador. 

“The 2017 winner will also receive a wardrobe allowance and other mouth-watering gifts. In addition, she will have access to business advice from experts to ensure the success of her new business venture,” she said. 

The maiden edition was won by a 600- level Dental-Surgery student of the University of Ibadan, Blessing Animasahun, who emerged victorious, among 375 contestants in 2016 and was crowned by the Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi, in Ile Ife. 

The guesgt judge, Adekola is a multiple award winning actor. He is famous for his roles in Mufu Olosaoko, Alani Pamolekun, Asiri Ikoko, among others.
