Kwese TV Takes Subscription Plans to New Level

Beyond the recent Kwese TV launch with three, seven and 30 days subscription plans for would-be subscribers, the new satellite television could also serve as a platform to take young lads away from the street through its talent discovery project. What exactly is the idea behind the whole concept?

The new satellite television, at the ground breaking ceremony last week disclosed its plans as the exclusive broadcast partner of the National Basketball Association (NBA) in sub-Saharan Africa.

According to the General Manager Kwesé Free TV Nigeria, Chichi Elizabeth Amkpa, sports lovers can look forward to live action, weekly previews and highlights from the NBA, international boxing (including exclusive coverage of all Anthony Joshua fights), IAAF World Championships and the National Football League among other sports, on Kwesé Sports 1, Kwesé Sports 2 and Kwesé Free Sports which was first introduced to Nigerian audiences in earlier this year.

” Kwesé Free Sports is Africa’s largest and first Pan-African free-to-air TV channel available in 25 countries providing premium sporting content to sports fans for free. The channel holds exclusive free-to-air rights to the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia and the Premier League,” she explained.

She pointed out that with Kwese Free sport channel, it about liberalizing content by exposing viewers to more sports content which historically was only available on pay-Tv. “We believe that it is lack of exposure that has hindered the popularity of certain sporting codes. For all we know a future NBA MVP could be here in Nigeria but due to lack of exposure to the NBA, that young person has been denied the opportunity to develop their love and skill for the game.

“With the free sport channel, basketball fans can glue to our 24/7 coverage from the new NBA season which tipped off recently. Football lovers can relish in the weekly Premier league matches. Athletics fans can enjoy unparalleled access to IAAF Championships while Formula One fan enjoys fast-paced racing action all on one Channel, she remarked last week.

To the benefit of sports loving Nigerians and particularly boxing fans, tonight’s World Heavyweight boxing bout between Anthony Joshua and Carlos  Takam will be exclusive live on Kwese Tv.

Nwoko recalled how the station won over Nigerian viewers with the exclusive broadcast of his earlier bout with former champion, Wladimir Klitschko. “We are committed to delivering premium sports and our viewers can expect to see more of these types of events in the years to come,” she pointed out.

As a follow up to the big fight in United Kingdom, Kwese TV will activate a viewing center plan in Sagamu, Ogun State, the birth place of Joshua tonight. The activation is in conjunction with Sagamu Youth Congress and Joshua’ family alongside well wishers from his State can watch on giant screen the live telecast of the 12 rounds event.

On the impasse currently engulfed the leadership of basketball federation in the country, the Chichi Nwoko disclosed that the primary aim of Kwese is to empower Nigerian youths and not to get involved in the local politics of which group takes over the reign of the game in the country.

“We have a corporate duty to give back to the community and we are not interested in which group to deal with as regards the leadership problem in the Nigeria Basketball Federation presently.

“As we await the final judgment from the international  body, we are not distracted on our plans to the game in the country and as you can see, the clinics for young boys and girls are still ongoing  and the plan is for four years and renewable.

“We have plans for other sports including athletics and others games in which Nigeria has the potentials to dominate in the years to come,” she said.
