23rd Benin Ladies Golf Open Tees off in Style 

The 23rd edition of Benin Ladies Open Golf Championship teed-off on Friday and will end Sunday at the famous Benin Club golf course, GRA, Benin City just as the executive governor of the state, Godwin Obaseki and the First Lady will officially declare the tournament open today.

Obaseki, who is a golfer and club member, is expected to compete with his deputy, Comrade Philip Shaibu, other members of the state executive and other club members  to determine the best golfer

In a chat with the media on what to expect at the tournament, the Lady Captain, Mabel Osazuwa, affirmed that plans at ensuring a successful organisation of the tournament have been adequately taken care of, while also expressing confidence that this year edition would be a glorious and an improvement on earlier editions.

She added that and estimated 230 golfers both men and ladies would be participating at the event and that the introduction of the ‘Perpetual Cup’ would be make the event unique.

Clubs from UBTH golf club, Ibori Country and Golf club, Asaba; Shell golf club, Warri, Port-Harcourt golf club, IBB, Ikoyi club, Ibadan, Jos, Enugu, Calabar amongst are expected.

On Friday, Vet Men and Men’s handicap 19-28 took to the course and today will be the main event for the ladies in all the Categories, from handicap 1-36. Also, men’s handicap 1-18, guest men as well as sponsors will have their playing periods too.

“On Sunday, it would be the turn of ladies handicap 1-28 to determine the eventual winner for the gross event. There are trophies and lots of valuable prizes to be won while the overall winner will get giant trophy,” she said.
