The Catholic Church of Assumption Falomo, Lagos, headed by the Parish Priest Reverend Father Pius Omofuma will celebrate its annual Harvest Lunch and Dance at the Harbour Point on Sunday. This year’s harvest is themed “Harvest of Divine Restoration”.

This year’s fundraising event is geared towards the ongoing second phase of the church’s school project, Mater Ecclesiae College, Igbodu, Epe, a co educational boarding secondary school in Epe. The event is channelled to raise money to support educational enrichment programs of the church school project.

The objective of the church is to establish a qualitative, co-educational, boarding secondary school for the Nigerian child. The school was founded as the Church’s contribution to bridging the gap and raising the standard of education in our country by providing high quality education of international standard. In order to ensure that international standards are instituted and maintained, foreign religious affiliation is being sought with the assistance of His Grace, Most Rev. Dr. Alfred Adewale Martins, the Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Lagos. His Grace also recently appointed an administrator- Father John Nteojah who is assisted by the Sisters of Saint Michael the Archangel.

Admission will be on merit by competitive entrance examinations. There is an ongoing plan for a scholarship fund, which  will accommodate children who succeed at the entrance examinations, but cannot afford the fees.

Although founded and promoted by the church, admission to the school is open to bright students of all religious persuasions and even the irreligious. The school is situated on 15 acres of land in Epe, a fast-growing area that is serene.

The School opened two years ago and the pioneer students of the school  began classes in September 2015. The money  raised from this year’s fundraiser will be used to provide additional facilities like  hall, chapel, football field, basket ball court, etc.
