OurMumuDonDo Group Begins Protest against NNPC Contract Scandal, Corruption Cases

By Paul Obi in Abuja
Popular musician, Mr Charles Oputa, also known as Charly Boy, under the aegis of OurMumuDonDo Tuesday commenced a protest against the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation’s (NNPC) $26 billion contract scandal, and the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) corruption case against the suspended Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) Babachir Lawal, among other alleged corruption cases involving top officials in President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.
The protesters, who converged on the Unity Fountain with placards carrying various inscriptions such as: “Where is SGF Report?”, “N120 Billion Bribe of IG of Police” and “Who Signed $26billion NNPC Contracts?” demanded that President Buhari act on all the cases of corruption in his government.
Oputa tasked all Nigerians, mostly the youth “to come out and join the protest for the sake of their unborn generation”.
The Leader of Concerned Nigerians, Deji Adeyanju, stated that “the primary objective of the group is to reawaken the consciousness of Nigerians towards the monumental fraud and looting that is going on in this government”.
Adeyanju added that the protest exposes “what has been going on in the mind of people and social media particularly in the NNPC, Inspector General of and money that was found at an apartment in Ikoyi”.
“It is important to note that the critics of yesterday are now in government and now see  the critics of today as enemy of Nigeria. But when they criticise government policy yesterday they were celebrated,”  he stressed.
