NDDC to Construct 14.5 Kilometre Dual Carriage Road to Bakassi Deep Seaport

The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has announced plans to construct a 14.5 kilometres dual carriage way from Calabar to link the proposed Bakassi Deep Seaport, as well as facilitate the realisation of the 275 kilometres Super Highway to link the proposed seaport and Katsina-Ala in Benue State.

 The disclosure was made when a delegation from the NDDC led by its chairman, Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba paid a coutesy call on the state governor, Professor Ben Ayade, as part of their working tour of the state.

 At the courtesy visit which took place at the executive chamber of the governor’s office on Thursday, Ndoma-Egba disclosed that the commission was prepared to into partnership with the state government for the execution of the proposed super highway and the proposed Bakassi Deep Seaport, which Ayade has designated as the signature projects of his administration.

 Ndoma-Egba, who stated that the commission was willing and committed to partnering with the state towards the successful execution of the projects, disclosed that in the next few days, the NDDC would send in a team of its experts to discuss specific details of the projects with the state government.

 We are willing to partner with members states on projects of their choice, their choice of priority. You know it is the state governments that determine the priority of these projects, and for Cross River State their priorities are very clear, the deep seaport and the Super Highway.”
