Ahead of the national convention of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), former military President, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (rtd), has told delegates of the party to elect a man of vision as their national chairman.

Babangida made the remark in Minna when he received a chairmanship aspirant of the party, Chief Raymond Dokpesi, at his uphill residence in the Niger State capital.

Babangida said: “Democracy is about choice and only people with vision, courage and strong commitment to the unity of the country can lead the PDP.”

The former military president described the December 9, 2017 convention of the PDP as an avenue for party members to “uphold the visionary ideals of your founding fathers.”

He declared: “Politicians should always have a vision for a united and strong Nigeria as a shining example of Democracy in Africa.”

Babangida described Dokpesi as “a strong pillar in the democratic equation in Nigeria,” and wished him the best of luck in the task he had assigned to himself.

Dokpesi was accompanied on the visit by Senator Aniete Okon, Senator Paul Wampana, Senator Yisa Braimoh and Hon. Auwalu Bamanga Tukur.
