Kwankwansiyya Support Organisation Honours THISDAY with Award

A group, the Kwankwansiyya Support Organisation (KSA), wednesday honoured THISDAY Newspapers with an award for promoting transparent and professional journalism in recognition of its contributions to human and societal development.

The award, the Director General of the Kwankwansiyya group, Air Commodore Sani A. Zakari, noted was in recognition of THISDAY contributions to journalism.

Zakari, while handing over the award to THISDAY Deputy Editor, Mr. Bolaji Adebiyi, and Editor, Nation’s Capital, Mr. Iyobosa Uwugiaren, at Arise TV Channel’s office in Abuja, congratulated the company for its 22 years of immense fireworks inthe journalism.

According to him, “Kwankwansiyya is a political ideology and a movement as exemplified by its leader, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwanso which is in tandem with Mallam Aminu Kano’s political philosophy and ideology.”
He hinted that the movement signifies hardworking and commitment to the struggle for emancipation, development and happiness of the people.

“This trait we have also seen in THISDAY company. We are here on a courtesy visit because we know you as an organisation of good record, credible and cut across the globe. In recognition of these, Kwankwansiyya Support Organisation thereby presents to you this award on ‘Transparent and Professional Journalism’,” Zakari said.

Responding on behalf of THISDAY, Uwugiaren stated that though the company was not affiliated with any political party, it welcomes any genuine group or persons that have the interest of the country at heart.

According to Uwugiaren, “We welcome you to Arise TV Channel, the broadcast arm of THISDAY Newspapers. We thank you for this award given to the organisation, we are willing to work and align with any purposeful group of persons and group who holds the interest of the Nigerian society at heart.

“We believe in transparency and accountability even as we are not affiliated to any group or political parties. We are very grateful as this award will spur us to do better even as we wishes you well as you go about your business.”

The group was led by its Director General, Zakari; Adamu Garba, Mohammed Said, Balla Yaqub, Aminu Shuaibu and Solomon Anika.
