FG to Tackle Challenges Facing Women, Children, Vulnerable

The federal government has restated its commitment to improving the lot of women, children and vulnerable members of the society.

The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs. Ifeoma Anagbogu, made the remark at the 17th National Council on Women Affairs and Social Development held in Sokoto on Monday.

Anagbogu, who stated that the policy thrust of the present administration is geared towards tackling all negative tendencies that have permeated the fabrics of the society, noted that the National Council on Women Affairs has been charged with the responsibility of formulating policies, executing programmes as well as sustaining performance with regards to women, children and the vulnerable.

The permanent secretary said it has become imperative to look in the direction of the policy thrust of government, taking into cognizance the importance of synergy and the enlightenment of the public on projects that would facilitate the achievement of the set targets, as it affects women, children and other vulnerable members of the society.

She described the meeting as apt considering the fact that the Technical Departments would leverage on the opportunity offered by the National Council to share ideas and draw from the experiences of colleagues from the states to reposition the development sector for the benefit of women.
