Ekiti Workers Warn EFCC against Arbitrary Arrest

Workers in Ekiti State under the auspices of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) have called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to promptly charge the arrested Commissioner for Finance, Toyin Ojo, and Accountant General of the state, Mrs. Yemisi Owolabi, to court if it has any case against them.

Chairman of NLC in the state, Mr. Ade Adesanmi, said the anti-graft agency’s continued detention of the commissioner and the accountant general is delaying the payment of salaries to the hungry workers in the state.

Adesanmi spoke on Thursday during the celebration of World Teachers’ Day, organised with fanfare for teachers in the state by Governor Ayodele Fayose.

The venue of the event held at the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State capital, was filled to capacity with teachers wearing attire carrying the portrait of the governor.

Fayose donated N100 million to the teachers for coming first in the 2017 National Examinations Council (NECO) and three branded new cars to two best teachers and tutor-general in the state’s public schools.
