Police Handover Captured Boko Haram Kingpin in Ondo to Army

As efforts to arrest remnants of Boko Haram terrorists intensify, the Nigerian police has arrested a top Boko Haram kingpin in Ondo State.
The police also handed over the arrested Boko Haram kingpin to the Nigerian Army for further investigation.

Director of Army Public Relations, Brig. Gen. Sani Usman, explained that “Nigeria Police Ondo State Command arrested a declared wanted Boko Haram terrorist group member, Idris Ibrahim Babawo aged 42, that goes by the names ‘Idoko’ and ‘Nagada’.

“He is believed to be on serial number 156 on the wanted Boko Haram terrorists list. He was handed over to the 32 Brigade, 2 Division, Nigerian Army, at about 2.00pm today Monday 25th September 2017 by the Ondo State Command of the Nigeria Police.”

According to Usman, “preliminary investigation shows that the terrorist kingpin hailed from Chinade village, Katagum Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
“He escaped from the North-east due to military onslaught on the terrorists with a view to evade arrest and prosecution. But nemesis caught up with him.

“In another development, Nigerian troops of 1 Brigade, 1 Division Nigerian Army on Operation SHARAN Daji on September 25, 2017, carried out a successful raid on suspected armed bandits Camps at Kahiru forest, Bakura Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

“On approaching the camp, the suspected bandits opened fire on the troops and attempted to escape.
“The troops returned fire, killing one of the armed bandits and recovered 50 cows, 82 goats and 25 sheep abandoned by the armed bandits,” Usman stated.

Also, the Police yesterday paraded 31 kidnappers and armed robbers terrorising Abuja, Kaduna and Minna areas.
Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Jimoh Moshood while parading the suspects said: “Consequent on the reinforcement of Operation Absolute Sanity on Abuja- Minna Highway with more personnel of Special Tactical Squad and additional two units of Special Police Forces by the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim K. Idris, to tackle the gangsof Kidnappers that escaped arrest on Abuja – Kaduna Highway and relocated to some roads in Niger State.

“The suspects were arrested in their hideouts and camps where some of their victims were rescued and the listed firearms, ammunition, army camouflage uniforms and operational vehicles of the kidnappers were recovered from them.”
