Apapa Gridlock: LASG Summons Stakeholders for Lasting Solution

Following orders by the Lagos State Government to truck operators to vacate Apapa expressway, the state government has invited representatives of the Association of Maritime Truck Owners, Flour Mills Nigeria, Dangote Nigeria, Petroleum Tankers Drivers Association, NUPENG and other stakeholders in the transport sector to an interactive forum Tuesday aimed at finding a lasting solution to the meance of traffic gridlock in the axis.

According to a statement by the acting Commissioner for Transportation, Nofiu Elegushi, agenda of the meeting will focus on finding a lasting solution to the Apapa traffic gridlock and its attendant economic impact on residents.

The meeting is scheduled to hold by 12 noon in the ministry’s conference Room, Block 17, the Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja.
Meanwhile, ahead of plans by Governor Akinwunmi Ambode to commission the statue of the late statesman and consummate politician, Chief Obafemi Awolowo’s statue, the state government has advised the public and motorists in particular that vehicular movement on Obafemi Awolowo way would be impeded.

“Motorists are therefore advised to exercise caution and obey the extra traffic management rules and personnel that will be on ground as a result of the increased heavy vehicular movement to be experienced in the area,” Elegushi implored.
