As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative to mark her 10 years anniversary, Cordros Capital Limited, a leading Financial Services company based in Lagos donated 100 per cent of its commission earned on all clients’ equity trades executed on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange on Wednesday, August 30, 2017 to Special Olympics Nigeria.Â
In line with its culture of giving back to the society, it also donated a separate sum of  N500,000 to advance Special Olympics Nigeria (SO Nigeria) sports programmers and health initiatives for people with intellectual disabilities.
At the presentation held last Friday at the Special Olympics Nigeria office located in Maryland Lagos, Chief Financial Officer, Cordros Capital Limited, Mr. Akinsola Akinyemi, attested that the company was proud to be associated with Special Olympics Nigeria and its activities, which have been impacting positively and putting smiles on the faces of people with intellectual disability in Nigeria.
He noted that the company was delighted at the opportunity to partner SO Nigeria to foster inclusion, integrity and acceptance of people living with intellectual disability, particularly at a time when Cordros Capital is celebrating a milestone of 10 years in the financial services sector.
In her remarks, Head, Channel Sales, Mrs. Sola Bola-Audu, also noted that the company had followed the activities of Special Olympics Nigeria and deemed it worthy to identify with the organization to strengthen its cause. She also emphasized that initiatives that seek to empower people living with intellectual disability, which is at the core of SO Nigeria objectives deserves support.
While responding to the gesture, National Director, Special Olympics Nigeria, Ms. Naomi Saliu-Lawal, expressed appreciation to the Management and Staff of Cordros Capital Limited for choosing to collaborate with SO Nigeria to stop the exclusion of people with intellectual disabilities in Nigeria.
She commended Cordros Capital as a responsible corporate organization with genuine interest to improve the lives of people in its business community. She also affirmed that the financial company’s donation and unending support will go a long way in the non-for-profit organization’s quest to help PWIDs build confidence and skills to demonstrate abundance of talents and shared-joy.
Today, SO Nigeria is spread across 25 states in the South-West, South-East, South-South, North-Central and North-West with over 21, 000 children and adults with intellectual disabilities participating in year-round sports training and athletic competitions in nine Olympic-type Sports such as Soccer (Football), Basketball, Aquatics (Swimming), Athletics, Badminton, Table-tennis, Floor hockey, Floor ball and Cycling.
