The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State has challenged Governor Ayodele Fayose’s claim that the state is not gaining anything from the President Muhammadu Buhari-led federal government.
It said instances of the federal Government’s assistance abound that should have lifted Ekiti people from their present sorry state if the governor had applied various financial aids by the Federal Government honestly.
Fayose, in his recent media chat on state-owned media said that the Federal Government has not rendered any assistance to Ekiti under Buhari.
He maintained that all the state’s debts were incurred by the administration of his predecessor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi. He also said the loans taken by the last administration would be fully repaid in 2036.
Meanwhile, an APC chieftain, Olusegun Osinkolu, has advised Fayose to emulate the robust relationships between Governors of Ebonyi, Dave Umahi and Cross Rivers, Prof. Ben Ayade and President Buhari, in spite of being members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
He urged the governor to better fraternise with Buhari’s government to bring more democratic dividends to the state, the way his colleagues have done.
Osinkolu, a senatorial aspirant, said in Ado Ekiti, thursday that the FG could have done better for the state if Fayose had been able to rise above party sentiment and toe the line of a statesman in dealing with Buhari’s government
