Mining: Minister to Lead Nigerian Delegation to China Congress

The Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development, Hon. Abubakar Bawa Bwari, is to lead the Nigerian delegation to the China Mining Congress and Expo scheduled to hold from September 23 – 25, 2017, at the Meijiang Convention in Tianjin, China.

The China Mining Congress and Expo, contained in a statement by the ministry on Wednesday in Abuja, is one of the world’s largest mineral investment, cooperation and trading platforms.

According to the statement, the objectives of Nigeria’s participation at the China conference include among others to re-affirm Nigeria’s economic policy priority, which focuses on the diversification of Nigeria’s revenue base by repositioning the mining sector for greater productivity.

The conference, it noted, “will also provide government officials, industry leaders and experts from both Chinese and foreign mining industries with indept dialogues on questions related with the mining industry”.

It said: “During the conference, the Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development will deliver an address at one of the main congress sessions as well as at the Nigeria-China Mining Investment Forum that is organised by the Ministry.”
