The gubernatorial ambition of the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representative, Hon. Sulaimon Lasun Yussuff, received a boost yesterday as His Royal Majesty, Oba Babatunde Ogunwusi Ojaja II, expressed support for his candidature in the 2018 elections.

The royal father,  who received the deputy speaker in his palace in continuation of his consultations for the governorship race in Ile Ife said going by the latter’s track record, he was convinced he would deliver and improve the lives of the people of Osun State.

The Oba further expressed concern over what he described as poor performances of past leaders in government and urged the deputy speaker to see himself as a servant not a leader to be able to serve well as the best governor of the state.

He said: “I know you are a farmer and that you have being helping farmers in the state. At times, I borrow some of the tractors you donated to farmers, I will help you develop farming in the state if you emerge governor.”

The deputy speaker, however, promised to elevate Ile-Ife as the capital of the  Yoruba race if voted to power.

He also promised to henceforth use his position and ability to ensure that Ile-Ife is placed in its enviable position in the country.

He vowed to improve the agricultural sector in order to provide job opportunities to unemployed people in the state.

According to him, no nation can develop without improving agricultural sector and  a substantial percentage of  the state annual budget would be considered for  agriculture.

He said he would promote skill acquisition which is the key to any meaningful development, assuring that all infrastructural development would be tailored towards real and physical economic requirements of the state.
