The Kaduna State Government has urged residents of the state not to give in to fear over some negative security developments in other parts of the country.

The government, in a statement on yesterday said: “Kaduna is safe and there is no cause for alarm”.

The statement signed by Samuel Aruwan,  spokesman to Governor Nasir el-Rufai, added that the state government  was working with all security agencies round the clock to ensure the safety of everyone living in the state.”

The statement came on the heels of fear, apprehension and uncertainty that has enveloped the Igbo community in the state.

Since Friday, the  Igbo, especially in Kaduna metropolis had been apprehensive for fear of reprisal attack following happenings in Abia and Rivers State where some Hausa people were allegedly killed by members of Nnamdi Kanu’s  Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

THISDAY investigations revealed that since Friday to Monday,  some Igbo traders did not opened their shops just as some parents  did not allow their children to go to school for fear of the unknown.

In the statement, Aruwan declared that “Kaduna is safe and there was no cause for alarm. The state government is working with all security agencies round the clock to ensure the safety of everyone living in the state.

“We are calling on our citizens not give in to fear over some negative security developments in other parts of the country.

“This government will not allow anyone to breach the existing peace and harmony enjoyed in the state. We will not condone any act of violence or breach of law and order.

“Every resident must live up to their civic responsibilities, and must shun and report anyone seeking or urging reprisals against innocent people.

“We have deployed security to patrol the entire state to ensure safety of everyone living in Kaduna state. Do not hesitate to alert government or security agencies threats to law and order.

“The Kaduna State government remains committed to its responsibility to ensure that every resident can live in peace.”
