The luxury store in the heart of Lagos capital, Adam&Eve has announced that the second art exhibition, titled The Content II, will open on October 15. Dubbed the “Harmattan Editionâ€, the show is coming on the heels of the commercial success of the first show in June, which featured veteran artists while attracting members of the creative industry and some Lagos socialites who have great taste for arts and aesthetics.
This exhibition, which will run till December 15, features 10 artists out of whom are three guests artists drawn from the previous edition. The guest artists are Bruce Onabrakpeya, Kolade Oshinowo and Lekan Onabanjo. Other participating artists include Francis Uduh, Juliet Ezenwa, Damola Adepoju, Olumide Oresegun, Emmanuel Stanley-Dudu, Ibe Ananaba and Josh Nmesirionye.
The line up of artists for this show is a promise kept by the CEO, Adam&Eve, Mrs. Modupe Ogunlesi. She had said earlier in the year that more emerging artists would be embraced in the subsequent editions of the exhibition. Not predisposed to supplying the technical details of the show, Ogunlesi revealed that in selecting the works, attention was paid to visual appeal and the underlying message in each work. For her, most of her collectors are not thirsty for art nuances but what appeals to their eyes.
“The art will be like our music. It will burst the charts. Our art will transcend reason,†she said. Each artist is expected to showcase five works while the guest artists will present only two pieces each.
On November 12, Adam&Eve will hold its annual Festival of Carols simultaneously with the show as a way of reminding the public to buy Christmas presents in the festive period. During this event, there will be poetic and bible readings.
Meanwhile, the gallery plan is still in top gear. With good strategic location, just a few kilometres from the Muritala Mohammed International Airport, it is expected that the new art gallery will attract tourists, international art collectors and art patrons in general.
