The NOTES2NOTES Event

By Azuka Ogujiuba

The need to monetise one’s abilities can never be overemphasised. Same with music, as talent is just not enough. Here is the aim of #Notes2Notes, an initiative of Wilson Joel, CEO of Doxology Music, Lagos. This initiative came to fruition with its maiden edition last September at the freedom park, Broad Street, Lagos. Industry moguls, such as Steve Babaeko, Illbliss, Timi Dakolo, Praiz and more, were there to enlighten amazing talents how to monetise their music and make a great career out of their abilities. The event was a massive success with over 300 people in attendance.

This year, the sophomore edition was held recently at the prestigious Eko Hotel and it was such an amazing time out there. This year we had Bizzle (The Plug), Olorisupergal, Musicmagnate, Wilson Joel and Masterkraft plus a guest, Wole oni.

The event successfully made knowledge available in the area of studio recording, mixing and mastering, as well as the industry and the business view of music. We had over 150 people in attendance in an exclusive limited seating venue.

Wilson Joel believes that a candle really does not lose anything by lighting other candles. The whole aim is to leave a healthy music industry in the hands of the coming generation. Hence, a guy who was also found on the street singing (SYLVESTER) was there to sing his debut single. Nigeria’s soul singer, BEZ was also there live. Nosa took us on a very sonorous version of the national anthem which needs to be heard all over the country. We also had Nigerian Saxophone sensation, Yhumie.

We look forward to hosting the 3rd edition of #Notes2Notes in 2018 in a more vibrant, large and amazingly striking way.
