The Police Service Commission (PSC) wednesday cleared Senator Isah Hamman Misua of alleged forgery of his retirement from the Nigerian Police.
Misau and the Inspector General of Police (IG), Ibrahim Idris, have been at loggerheads over allegation of corruption against the IG, while the police in turn accused the senator of absconding from his job as a police officer among other sundry offences.
The senator though failed to appear before the police commission to prove the authenticity of his retirement from the police, but speaking with THISDAY, PSC Head of Media and Information, Ikechukwu Ani, said: The committee sat and after its meeting, it confirmed that it issued the letter.
“The letter was dated March 5, 2014 and to take effect December 1, 2010, and it was based on recommendation from Force Headquarters.â€
Ani explained that “the first issue is that after they met, they confirmed that the commission issued the letter to the senator dated March 5, 2014, to take effect December 1, 2010 and that it was based on the recommendation of Force Headquarters.
“So, his retirement followed due process; as per his retirement, the commission issued him a letter,†he submitted.
However, the Nigerian Police declined to comment on the position of PSC regarding the clearance of Misau of any wrong during his retirement from the Police.
Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Jimoh Moshood, informed THISDAY that the police would not comment pending when it receive official notification from the PSC.
