The Yomi Otubela Foundation, in conjunction with the Office of the Ooni of Ife, has awarded scholarship worth N29,817,500 to six qualified indigent students in the south west.
The founder, Chief Yomi Otubela while speaking during the presentation of the award at the Ooni’s Palace in Ife, Osun State said the scholarship scheme supported by Lagooz School, Lagos as a non-governmental, non-religious and non-profit organisation established to design and drive humanitarian programmes that propagate and sustain the advancing of the Nigerian child’s socio-moral and socio-economic status through diverse scholarships from primary school level to university within Nigeria.

He added that this year’s YOF mathematics scholarship examination which took off at various centres across the South-west Geo-political zone comprising of Lagos, Osun and Ondo States had over 200 participants.
The six best recipients of the scholarship are Lawrence Isreal, Oladele Love, Umar Quasim, Farada Lawal, Olawunmi Precious and Mary Adekunle. Otubela thanked the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi for supporting the foundation with resources.
In his remarks, the monarch commended Otubela and Lagooz School for the scholarship programme. “I thank God and the Yomi Otubela Foundation for the brave steps they took towards educating indigent students. I hereby plead with all parents to allow their kids be educated.”
The parents and guardians of the students also expressed satisfaction with the scholarship programme while lauding the initiative.
Alhaji Quasim Olaogun said “Quasim Umar is my son. I am grateful to God that I am alive today. I am indeed certain that this is the beginning of success for me.”
Mrs. Esther Adefiranye also said: “Yomi Otubela Foundation has brought joy to my life because Mary Adekunle who is a beneficiary today has no parents. I struggle to feed her but now God has answered my prayer. I am the happiest person today.”
