One of Nigeria’s leading power exhibitions which is dedicated to the burgeoning African power industry has commenced in Lagos yesterday at the Landmark Centre, and will end on September 7.

The exhibition which was officially inaugurated by the Managing Director, Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), Usman Gur Mohammed, is set to again attract the power industry stakeholders and its market value chain, from decision makers and business leaders to experts and trade professionals who will gather to deliberate the latest trends and progression within the country’s power sector.

Speaking at the official opening ceremony, Mohammed noted that “the exhibition plays a key role in promoting the latest products and solutions both locally and internationally, while putting the spotlight on issues such as solar power and energy efficiency.”

He added: “Although we are making great progress towards a more stable power market, such as the recent announcement of the Building Energy Efficiency Code (BEEC), we are still a way to go in various ways and products such as this that gives us the opportunity to all meet in one place and discuss where to go next.’’

He stated that the 2017 edition is the largest till date and will bring together over 100 exhibitors from 11 countries, offering visitors a first look at some of the latest products available on the market covering power generation, solar and transmission and distribution.

Power related companies from Turkey, China and India which also attended the exhibition, have also showcased the latest solutions to power challenges from their respective markets.

“This year’s Power Nigeria Agenda, which begins wednesday and will run throughout the three days, and it is a free-to-attend event which will bring municipal, Disco, financial, manufacturing, and solar leaders together to discuss the nation’s electricity deficiencies and solutions with the greater electricity market.”

Mohammed while delivering the keynote address set the tone for the day’s sessions which focused on ideas to reaching electricity customers across Nigeria and how best to mitigate financial risk across the T&D value chain. Day two of the conference will take a holistic look at the current state of Nigeria’s solar market, he added.

The Group Director, Industrial Group, Informa Exhibitions, Anita Mathews, said: “We are always thankful of the support we get every year. Power Nigeria is currently witnessing its strongest ever growth phase, from exhibitor numbers and country pavilions through to onsite product launches from some of the industry’s largest suppliers. We have also recognised that solar is becoming an increasingly important industry sector and we have made sure that our content streams this year are set up to support discussions on how to grow solar in the country.”
