New Police Commissioner Reads Riot Act to Criminals in Ondo

By James Sowole in Akure

The new Commissioner of Police for the Ondo State Command, Mr Gbenga Adeyanju, who resumed duty Tuesday in the state, has read the riot act to criminals in the Sunshine State.

Adeyanju replaced Mrs Hilda Ibuforo-Harrison who has been promoted to the rank of the Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG).

The new commissioner, who solicited the support and cooperation from all stakeholders and the people of the state, warned criminals and criminally minded elements to flee the state.

He said: “The constitution places on our shoulder the duties of protection of lives and properties among other duties. You will however agree with me that the police require the collaboration of all stakeholders to succeed in this arduous task.

Speaking on the fear associated with “ember months”, he said: “We are resolutely determined to allay such fear by insulating the state from any form of illegalities during this period and even beyond.”
