If future is worth giving up on when things aren’t rosy, probably, Tunji Oyebanji wouldn’t have a grand celebration when he clocked 60 penultimate weekend. This may be due to his grass to grace background.
 However, the Mobil boss organised a private party without official invitation card turned out to be a well celebrated.
 It started with a thanksgiving at ‘Our Saviour’s Church’ (TBS), in Lagos. After which he ferried few family members and close friends to party with him at the Bay lounge, along Admiralty way, in Lekki Phase 1, Lagos.
 The party was a fanfare as expensive, classic liquors and sumptuous meals littered the well-prepared table that salivate guests before feeding, giving to a caliber of Tunji who is highly connected with the high and mighty not only in the oil industry but home and abroad. His profile speaks for him despite having sour taste of life before life took positive twist on him to have him head various positions in one of the most successful multinational companies operating in Nigeria.
 At the event, Oyebanji was described as a pragmatic, courageous and decent business leader by the UACN boss. He further added that the celebrant’s life had been a source of inspiration to him. That in 16 years of close relationship with him, both had built an enduring alliance between their two companies and their families.
 For the chubby birthday boy, a lesson he has learnt over time is the fact that one should never despise small beginnings.
 Today, Oyebanji is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Mobil Oil Nigeria. Mobil Nigeria is one of the six major petroleum products marketers in Nigeria and leader in the oil industry in efficiency and brand management.
Tunji holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the University of Lagos and also holds an MBA in Marketing from the City University, London, UK. He started his career with Mobil in late 1980.
After a few more assignments, Tunji decided to take some time off the job to study for his masters in the United Kingdom. After one and half years away studying, he returned to his old job and that was the time he experienced the first breakthrough in his career.
 From that point onward, Tunji grew from one position to another in the company. He was first appointed to the Board in 2002 and after several foreign assignments, he was reappointed in 2007. In October 2008, he was later appointed the Chairman and Managing Director of Mobil Oil Nigeria.
 The selfless Tunji posited that he wanted to leave a legacy that must have built a stronger company than he met, considering that the oil company has existed for over a 100 years; and would want to add up another century
