Ace Broadcaster, Segun Adebowale Buries  Mother-in-law in Lagos

Last weekend, friends and family of ace broadcaster, Segun Adebowale came from all across the world to Lagos, to register their love and support for him, as his beautiful wife, Deaconess Olayinka’s mother was laid to rest in Lagos.

It was always going to be a grand affair given Adebowale’s wide-reaching influence and popularity among his colleagues in the media circle that turned out in their numbers to show love to their buddy. Adebowale is the Managing Editor of Ovation TV.

The two-day event took off with a Christian Wake at Christ Glorious Hope Assembly, Oke Ira, Ogba, Lagos with joyous hymnals and glorious testimonials about the late Madam Esther Ajayi Adebayo Osalaiye, who many family members and acquaintances affirmed was a woman of dignity and incredible impact in her lifetime.

The same church also hosted the funeral service the next day after which the deceased was committed to earth at Atan Cemetery in Yaba, amid emotional scenes that seemed to suggest that the death of a loved one even at an old age does not necessarily temper the grief of the bereaved.

The carnival-like atmosphere that unfolded at the beautifully decked-out 7 Stars Events Centre on Akilo Road, Ogba, dispelled every residue of sorrow from the interment as mirth swallowed up grief and the reception played out as the celebration of a fulfilled life that the whole affair was intended to be from the start. Guests had their fill of sumptuous delicacies and fine wines while being serenaded by Juju impresario and Lalale Friday crooner, Wale Thompson.

Maami as she was fondly called by her children was born seventy eight years ago into the family of High Chief Agbale Oshona and Madam Maria Agbale of Odo-Eri in Yagba West Local Government area in Kogi State. She was actively involved in Church activities in Evangelical Church for West Africa, ECWA (now Evangelical Church Winning All) where she was the Matron of the Brigade of the Church.
