Unknown gunmen yesterday morning attacked and killed the Principal Special Assistant on Knowledge Economy and Investment to Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State, Dr Tavershima Adyorough.

Adyorough was shot and killed by gunmen who invaded his residence at about 12.30a.m. and also shot his wife who is on admission in the hospital.

Adyorough who only returned back to Nigeria to serve under the Ortom-led government two years ago, was said to be very valuable to the government.

Meanwhile, the governor has described the killing of his aide as sad and unacceptable and condemnable, urging security agencies to swing into action immediately so as to arrest those responsible for the dastardly act.

He demanded the arrest and prosecution of the killers of Adyorough. The governor stated that Adyorough was a competent and dependable aide who delivered on his assignments with dedication and honesty.

He sympathised with the immediate family of the deceased and the people of the state, pledging that he would support security agencies in apprehending the culprits.

He urged those with useful information that can lead to the arrest to make same available.

Unknown gunmen had in 2016 killed a former Special Assistant to the governor on Security, Mr. Denem Igberna.
