Olx Edges Rivals with ‘Do it for Me’ Initiative

The  ‘Do it For Me’, DIFM, initiative launched  on Olx platform has further enhanced the visibility of the platform to numerous online shoppers  across the country as more customers now explore the  sales option to carry out their transactions.

The DIFM sales model which is exclusive to the company was instituted to make transactions easier and safer for users.

The idea was to further encourage customers to dispose off their unused and unwanted items profitably while also securing the environment.

According to the company, the value of unused, yet quality items stored in Nigerian homes is estimated at N512 billion and this is because many are yet to realise the monetary value in unused items while some others who know the worth don’t know how to go about selling them. Moreover, some people are still hoarding used items with the hope of re-using them in the future.

Shedding more light on the innovation, Country Manager of OLX, Lola Masha, stated that DIFM will help users manage postings and selling of items on the site.

“Users, especially busy executives who have no time to post, meet with potential buyers or want their privacy protected can entrust the sale of their goods to our champs who are sales experts,” she stated.

Testifying on the process, the Chief Executive Officer of Nuts About Cakes, Nike Majekodunmi commended the initiative which she confessed has boosted her business in the shortest time.

According to Majekodunmi, she heard of the DIFM service on the television and decided to give it a try when she needed a bigger oven for her bakery.

She said, “Due to my extremely tight schedule, I knew I needed help selling off my old oven very quickly as I had to buy a new one.  This prompted me to visit the site to book a champ.

“Moreover, the thought of receiving calls from strangers was not appealing to me. I especially loved that the process was very seamless as the champ did all the negotiation on my behalf.”

Majekodunmi who added that it has been an amazing and very profitable experience  with the platform especially after she featured on the TV adverts confessed that  her revenue jumped by over 21% a couple of weeks after the launch of the TV campaign as this has also accelerated her business to open her  fourth store”.

She encouraged users to follow the safety tips on the platform and always insist on inspecting chosen items before making payment.
