KCOSA Goes Global as New Executives Take Over

The new Executive Committee Members of the Kuramo College Old Students Association (KCOSA), led by the National President, Donald Olufemi Odusami, are leaving no stone unturned in ensuring that the association’s impact is felt not just in Nigeria, but globally. To this end, there would soon be inauguration of all local and foreign chapters and the immediate installation of chairman and two other executive members, for each. Odusami explained further that KCOSA will be stratified into sets, regions and continents, starting with the 1985 set to be headed by an elected chairman and two other executive committee members. The same, he revealed, goes for Kuramites regions or continents such as Europe, America, Asia and others. “Kuramo College Old Student Association, under my watch, will be driven by resilient and foresightedness, the aim of which is to foster a sense of belongings to all members, even as we give back to our Alma mater,” he said.

This was revealed during a recent election by KCOSA where all positions were keenly contested for and won by the most suitable ones except the position of the provost which was declared inconclusive by the electoral committee. The following persons were therefore elected: Hon. Femi Odusami – President; Victor Ekim- 1st Vice President; Priscilla Lawrence – 2nd Vice President; Elizabeth Jimmy- General Secretary; Monday Nnah – Assistant General Secretary; Godwin Ekaidem- Financial Secretary; Felix Uweribeno – PRO and Christopher Godwin- Assistant PRO. Others were: Affiong Okon- Social Secretary; Bonaventure Okereke- Assistant Social Secretary; Babatunde Otulaja – Welfare Officer; Ekiye Eyinimiere – Assistant Welfare Officer; Evans Ayanwu- Legal Adviser; George Onyirioha- Auditor and Anthony Edet- Treasurer.

In order to encourage the present crop of students at his Alma Mater, Odusami, while revealing plans to change the face of the school for better, said that KCOSA would put in place a number of projects to enhance quality education for the school. He said also that there would be renewal and revitalisation of all clubs in the school – Cultural Society and Literary/Debating Society – for which Kuramo College was known in the 80s while it will also go further to sponsor the annual prize giving day of his alma mater.

“We have talented Kuramites scattered around the globe, with untapped potentials. This is the time to reach out to them so that they can give back to society. We shall use the professionals amongst us to deliver dividends of good education to both Kuramites and present students of Kuramo College and we would not forget our parents too.”

Other plans in the pipeline for the school by the association under the scheme, ‘My School and I Programmes’, include purchase of school bus, provision of customised notebooks for students, refurbishment of the school dilapidated infrastructures, provision of free health services and stocking of the library amongst others.

He said however that the programmes highlighted may never be accomplished without the support of every member, stressing that, “No Association flourishes without adequate funding.” He therefore appealed to members to endeavour to pay all their dues while promising that the administration under his watch will ensure every kobo paid into the KCOSA account is judiciously used and accounted for.
For this very determined leader, housing for all is a must during his tenure. Consequently, he promised that the welfare of members will be in the front burner of the newly elected executives such that it will spur other Kuramites to join the moving train, adding, “KCOSA will be establishing estates around the country, starting from Epe, Lagos State. This will spread to other parts of Lagos State and thereafter other states,” Odusami said.
