About eight aspirants have so far showed up to purchase the expression of interest and nomination forms from All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the November 18 governorship election in Anambra State.

One of the aspirants and the National Auditor of APC, Chief George Moghalu, who was the first to purchase the expression of Interest and Nomination forms along with his supporters at the national secretariat of APC in Abuja promised to lift Anambra to greater heights and to enable it realise its fullest potentials.

Moghalu assured that under APC leadership in Anambra, there would be local government election, within the first six months.

Addressing journalists shortly after picking the forms, Moghalu said he would ensure unmatched progress in the overall development of Anambra State if elected governor.

Speaking on the chances of some of the aspirants who recently defected to the party, Moghalu said: “You started by calling them defectors and that is exactly what they are, and it would be out of place for me to build a house for another to occupy. So, we welcome them, we agreed they should come but when you come, you join the queue. You can’t come to displace those who are there because this house, we laboured to build it.

“Despite the challenges, despite the criticisms, we were called names. People never gave us a chance but today, the story is different and it will be most unfair even before God and man that we would build for another to occupy,” he said.

On his part, the Senator representing Anambra South at the National Assembly, Andy Ubah, said that he had what it takes in terms of experience and pedigree to defeat the sitting governor in the state.

Senator Ubah who was accompanied by many of his colleagues in the Red Chamber to purchase Expression of Interest and Nomination forms for the governorship ticket yesterday at the National Secretariat of the party said apart from political structure, he had good records to win him the ticket.

“Of all the aspirants that are running, I have not heard anything they have done, they have not won election and they are not prepared to win election. We need somebody with capacity and I know that we have that capacity to remove the sitting governor,” he said.

Six other aspirants that also came with their supporters to pick their nomination forms include, Nonso Nmadu, Obinna Uzo, Tony Nwoye, Barth Nwibe, and Johnbosco Onunkwo.
