Ondo State Governor, Mr. Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has expressed the state’s readiness to review its primary and post primary education curriculum with a view to building a solid foundation for the level which is the bedrock of the sector’s development.

Akeredolu who spoke at the inauguration of 165 furniture, comprising chairs, desks and tables for teachers and students of Aquinas College, Akure (ACA), donated by MTN Foundation, noted that plans were underway by the government to renovate public primary and secondary schools in the state.

According to him, “improving the school environment is very crucial to learning. We have invited interested persons to ameliorate the acute infrastructural deficit occasioned by neglect,” he said.

While calling on corporate organisations to support his government by extending their corporate social responsibility gestures to Ondo State by way of providing learning and instructional materials, Akeredolu said government alone cannot shoulder the task of providing quality education.

The Chairman of MTN Foundation, Prince Julius Adelusi-Adeluyi said through the foundation, the people of Ondo State had benefited from various projects worth over N236 million in the last 12 years.
He explained that they had also invested over N96 million on providing scholarships and school furniture to students in the state.

“We remain determined to continue improving the quality of life of the people of our nation and bringing hope to our young ones, assisting them to scale hurdles in their path to learning and development.

“I am particularly glad that the 150 students desks and benches, as well as 15 teacher tables and chairs being donated by the foundation, will enhance the learning experience for the current set of students.

“They are our future and equipping them with the right tools needed to learn, grow and succeed is critical to their development which will in turn, act as a catalyst for our nations progress”, he stressed.
He advised the students of the school to use the new facilities properly and to take advantage of the enhanced environment to further enhance their learning.

Responding on behalf of the school community, the Principal of Aquinas College, Mr. Babalola Ayibiowu, commended the tecommunications outfit for its laudable and humanitarian gestures towards the development of public schools in Ondo State.

He added that the furniture donated would go a long way in making teaching and learning more exciting in the school.
“No doubt, a viable seed sown into a fertile ground will give birth to gigantic trees with fruits for generations to harvest,” he stated.
