New ALGON Boss Pays Worker’s Salary Arrears

The newly-elected National President of the Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON), Alhaji Gombo Tanko Kagara, has released the sum of N10 million to offset the arrears of the salaries owed staff of the secretariat and for the upkeep of the secretariat.

Kagara, who made the disclosure through a statement recently, also commended the Acting President Yemi Osibanjo for his prompt response and physical presence at the site of the collapse bridge in Niger State.
Expressing regret that the salary arrears of the staff had almost gone to two years, he blamed the immediate past president, Karai, for failing to address the issue throughout his tenure, noting that it contributed to killing the association.

He, however, promised that his new leadership was determine to reposition ALGON for a better productivity, adding that part of the task before the new leadership is to bring all parties together for the progress of the association.

According to the statement, “Better time is here again for the national ALGON, as the new president, Kagara has release the sum of N10 million to clear the backlog of salaries owed the staff of the secretariat and for the upkeep of the secretariat.”

While commending Osinbajo for his commitment and determination to keep Nigeria as one indivisible entity, the ALGON boss said: “I am particularly impressed by his physical presence to supervise the work at the collapsed Niger Bridge recently and I want to assure him of the readiness of present leadership of national ALGON to collaborate with the federal government to effectively reach out to the grassroots,” it added.
