N’Assembly Canvasses Establishment of Drugs Research Centre across States

Chairman, Senate Committee on Drugs and Narcotics, Senator Joshua Lidani, has stressed the need for the establishment of the Centre for Research and Information on Substance Abuse (CRISA) across the country.

Lidani made the call when members of the National Assembly Joint Committees on Drugs and Narcotic Substances and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) visited the drop-in centre of CRISA-Care at No 10 Okon Essien Close, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

CRISA-Care, a non-profit organisation devoted to drug and alcohol research, prevention and treatment of substance use disorders is addiction drop-in centre providing counselling and other interventions to people with problematic drug use and their families.

Lidani, who led members of the National Assembly Committees on Drugs and Narcotic Substances to the centre, expressed satisfaction with the activities and services provided for the drugs victims.

Members of the committees are in the state on a three-day retreat organised for them by UNODC hence the decision to inspect facilities at the CRISA-Care as part of their visit to the state.
