Police Recover 300 Rustled Cows in Niger

The Niger State Police Command has recovered about 300 cows rustled from Risa village in Rafi Local Government area of the state.
The command’s Public Relations Officer, Bala Elkana, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Wednesday said the cows were recovered from the Baga-Baga and Kwasa-kwasa forests in Birnin-Gwari town of Kaduna State.
Elkana said there was exchange of gunfire between the police and the rustlers resulting in injuries to two of the thieves while others escaped unhurt. No police man was hurt in the operation.
He said the special operations unit of the force was still on the trail of the rustlers that escaped into the forest.
Elkana disclosed that the cows were stolen from two farmers, Bello Sani and Adamu Bello, in Risa village in Rafi Local Government area sometime last week.
