Ondo First Lady, Betty Akeredolu’s Humanness

While some say she is an epitome of courage,  some maintain that she is a true definition of strength.  However you want to define her,  Mrs. Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, wife of Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, is certainly a woman of substance.

Sometime ago,  she had an encounter that tested her faith in God, when she battled with cancer. Even in the face of the physical,  emotional,  psychological and financial torture,  she put her trust totally in God.

Looking back now,  she is thankful  to God for surviving the deadly ailment.  Beyond this,  the experience  had prepared her for one of the tasks she is engaged in today: being a tool in the hands of God for giving hope to those who are currently battling with cancer.

In appreciation of God’s mercy in her life,  she founded the now popular Breast Cancer Association of Nigeria (BRECAN), an NGO dedicated to galvanising action against breast cancer, even long before her husband dreamt of contesting as governor of the state.

However, this is not all there is about this elegant woman. In her undergraduate days,  she engaged in campus politics; thus, it was not surprising when  she threw her weight behind her husband in his quest to become the number one citizen of the state.

Very modest and amiable,  she also loves cooking for her family,  in spite of her tight schedule as the First Lady of the state.

She is said to love traditional and inspirational music, especially gospel songs.
