Kano NUJ Chairman, Abduljalal is Dead

The Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kano State Council, Abduljalal Haruna is dead.

Haruna died on Wednesday night at age of 53 at his Giginyu residence after a prolong illness.

He left behind two wives and nine children and had since been buried at Tarauni cemetery in accordance with the Islamic rites.

Among those who attended the funeral prayers included Governor Abdullahi Ganduje and his Deputy Professor Hafiz Abubakar, former Minister of Education, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau, as well as top government officials.

Haruna was a staff of the Abubakar Rimi Television (ARTV) before he was elected two times as the state NUJ chairman.

Others were journalists from various media organisations working in the state and other neighbouring states, as well as other sympathisers.

It was also learnt that a condolence register has been open at NUJ press centre.
