* Lawmakers resume from recess

The acting President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, has signed the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission Bill, and the Petroleum Training Institute Bill, which were transmitted to him by the National Assembly, into law.
This was revealed by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters (Senate), Senator Solomon Ita Enang, in a statement Momnday.
Both bills have therefore come into effect as laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Enang said.
“The Diaspora Commission Act establishes the commission under the supervisory jurisdiction of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It has responsibility to co-ordinate and organise Nigerians in and from the Diaspora to contribute human capital and material resources, including their expertise of the development of Nigeria and its constituent states,†he added.
Enang further noted that the law would ensure the establishment of a database
Nigerians in various fields and potentialities as resource base for Nigeria and the world to draw from, as well as protecting the interest of Nigerians in the Diaspora.
The Petroleum Training Institute (Amendment) Act, Enang said, would bring its provisions in conformity with the constitution, allowing for due process in the administrative action affecting the principal officers and staff of the institute.
Enang also welcomed the lawmakers from their mid term recess and constituency engagements.
Meanwhile, the lawmakers are scheduled to resume from their midterm/sallah recess today (Tuesday).
