New ALGON Leadership Emerges

The Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON) has elected a new leadership at its meeting held over the weekend in Abuja.

At the election conducted during its National Executive Committee, Hon. Gambo Tanko Kagara, from Niger State was elected as the new National President while Hon. Nnamdi Udueze from Abia State emerged as Deputy President.

Other elected officers included: Hon. Sani Hassan S. Dogarai -Treasurer (Gombe), Hon. Suleiman Mohammed Karde – Auditor (Kebbi), Hon. Joseph Shazi (Legal Adviser), and Hon. Dapo Olagunju (PubLicity Secretary).

In a communique issued and signed by the National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Dapo Olagunju at the end of the NEC meeting of the association said that it has dissolved the caretaker committee at the national level led by Alhaji Ibrahim Ahmed Karai. 

The communique read: “The meeting elected new officers to manage the affairs of the association for the next two years in line with the section 5(ii) of the constitution of the association

 “The meeting appraised the activities of the association for the past one year and commends the acting national president for holding forth in the face of many challenges confronting the Association.

“It  commends the efforts of the federal government to revive the ailing economy and give the populace a sense of belonging. It argued that government not to relent until she achieved the desire result. It reminded government to step up the process of granting full autonomy to the 774 local government councils in Nigeria to ensure ad promote speedy acceleration of good governance at the grass roots level.”
