Fayose Sacks Commissioners, Aides

By Victor Ogunje in Ado Ekiti

Without prior notice, the Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, yesterday dissolved the state executive council.

Those affected were commissioners and special advisers in his cabinet.

This is the first time Fayose would be embarking on total overhauling of his cabinet since he assumed office on October 16, 2014 The governor  ordered all former  commissioners to hand over to the permanent secretaries of their respective ministries.

In a statement by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary (CPS), Idowu Adelusi, the governor who thanked the former commissioners for their service to the state and wished them well in their future endeavours, did not state reason for taking such a major decision.

However, there are speculations that the decision to dissolve the cabinet might not be unconnected with political goings-on in the state ahead of the 2018 gubernatorial poll.

Fayose has kicked started a continuity political agenda several months ago.

Some said dissolving the cabinet might have to do with allowing those in his government to fully prepare for the coming poll.

It was also peculated that it might be connected with alleged political machinations by the opposition to penetrate Fayose’s government ahead of 2018.

The governor had also alleged that the federal government was after his government for being the loudest opposition voice against it.
