PDP National Auditor Expresses Confidence of Ending Factional Crisis

National Auditor of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Fatai Adeyanju, has expressed confidence that the crisis rocking the party would soon come to an end.

‎Speaking during a stakeholders’ meeting of Ogun West Senatorial zone of the party held in Ota, Ogun State, he said “we believe that when the Supreme Court delivers its judgment, it may favour us and other aggrieved factions will return to the fold to join us and our problems will be resolved and over.‎‎”

‎He explained that members of PDP who had gone to different directions following the leadership crisis rocking it both at the state and national levels, would return home after the Supreme Court takes its decision on PDP case before it.

Adeyanju, however, hailed the financier of the party, Senator Buruji Kashamu, whom he said has remained committed to keeping the party alive in the state, declaring that whoever the PDP presents as gubernatorial candidate in 2019 would triumph.

Also speaking, a chieftain of PDP in Ogun East and former House of Representatives member, Prince Segun Seriki, said successor to Governor Ibikunle Amosun should be picked by the electorate based on “competence” and not “pity or sympathy” come 2019.

Seriki who hails from Ijebu-Igbo (Ogun East) area of the state and a gubernatorial aspirant, said even if Ogun West has not been able to produce a governor since the birth of the state over 40 years ago, the zone should present its finest in 2019 to contest for the office along with candidate from Ogun East.

“I believe the best should be exploited in a democracy but given our peculiar situation where people are forced to look for Governor of their own clan to perpetuate exploitation in their favour, I can understand the sensitivity behind the agitation for zoning.
“The zone excluded from the contest is Ogun Central but it is my wish and hope that Ogun West in their desirous of fielding governorship candidate for 2019 will bring out their finest to join the likes of me.

“Where I came from in Ijebu-Igbo, we are marginalised and never had opportunity to be governor. We are as disadvantaged as the Ogun West people. We are desirous of contesting and competing for the seat with Ogun West in a fair contest without pity. Ogun State cannot be run on pity and people should not be enthroned in a position of authority out of sympathy or pity,” Seriki said.
