Niger Delta Young Leaders to Meet in Port Harcourt over Biafra, Restructuring

Over 60 carefully selected young leaders across the Niger Delta will meet in Port Harcourt next week over the increasing call for the immediate restructuring of the country by prominent Nigerians and geopolitical groups based on the growing national consensus to redefine the connections that bind the country and the disturbing hate comments from groups.

This was contained in a statement from a former Bayelsa State governorship candidate and Chairman of the Nigerian Young Professionals Forum, Moses Siasia, and made available to THISDAY thursday.

The statement read in parts: “This meeting is a product of the current national discuss on restructuring and the Biafra’s call for secession, hence, we who are seen as trustees of prosperity in the Niger Delta region want to look inwards towards building a self-sufficient and sustaining region.”

Siasia also added that the meeting would also address internal issues in the region, such as the need for political leaders who are occupying public trust to be more accountable to the people and it would fashion out economic solutions that would aid the much needed growth and development in the Niger Delta, where those who are into productive ventures in adding value to society are encouraged, with the aim of moving out of the old order, where miscreants are celebrated.
