The Eid-el-Fitri was celebrated without security hitches in Borno State yesterday as many Muslim worshippers were made to trek the long distance to the Eid prayer grounds scattered all over the state capital, Maiduguri. Due to recent upsurge in Boko Haram attacks in the state especially around Maiduguri, vehicular movement was restricted to check against any security breach during the celebration making the month-long Ramadan fasting.
Many Muslims were seen trekking long distance to be part of the important ritual, even as there was heavy security presence at prayer grounds.
The Borno State Governor Hon. Kashim Shettima, has apologised to the state civil servant for his government inability to pay them their June salaries due to some hitches beyond his control.
