Ekiti Varsity, US Research Council to Train 30 Young Academics

The Federal University, Oye Ekiti, and the Social Science Research Council, New York, will Wednesday begin the training of 30 young academics drawn from West African countries to boost research and partnership in the sub region.

The conference is part of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed by the two organisations on the development of Africa.

Speaking with newsmen in Oye Ekiti on Monday, the Chairman, Local Organising Committee and the Head, Department of Political Science, Prof. Shola Omotola, said the measure is targeted at shoring up the ranking of West African universities on Webometric scale.

The university don praised FUOYE’s Vice -Chancellor, Prof. Kayode Soremekun, for blazing the trail and working round the clock to sign the MoU.

Omotola said 30 young academics from West African countries would be trained on research grant proposal writing that will attract eminent scholars from Cambridge and Bradford Universities among others.
