Agitations, Unnecessary Diversion, Says Sultan

By Mohammed Aminu in Sokoto
The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar II, has described the agitations by some groups as an unnecessary diversion, saying that resorting to uncomplimentary remarks and violence to make their demands heard would not augur well for peace and stability of the country.
He also said Nigeria will remain one and united despite the recent happenings in the polity, adding that violence and war had never solved any problem in any part of the globe.
Speaking while hosting leaders of communities, heads of security agencies, civil society groups and media practitioners to a dinner in his palace in Sokoto Wednesday night, the monarch wondered why a few people want to hold the entire country to ransom.
According to him, “We don’t have to resort to uncomplimentary remarks or violence to make our demands heard because insecurity doesn’t help anybody.  violence does not pay or resolve any proven.
“We should stop looking down on others  unless we want to lift them up. We should understand ourselves and respect one another.”
