Following the ultimatum issued by the Arewa youths to the Igbos to leave the north in three months, the Sokoto State Police Command has said that it is committed to ensuring law and order and protecting the lives of all residents of the state.

The state Commissioner of Police, Alhaji Abdulkadir Mohammed, gave the assurance during a meeting with leaders of resident communities at the police headquarters, Sokoto.

Mohammed called on the resident communities to ignore the threat and remain calm, saying the police was on top of the situation.

He said the meeting was meant to give the people the assurance that the police would do whatever it takes to protect their lives and properties in the state.

“This meeting is meant for confidence building and to give assurance to resident communities that they should not panic but go about their business without fear, as police is doing everything to protect them,” he said.
