Fire Razes Diya’s House in Lagos

Fire saturday gutted a house in Lagos belonging to former military Vice-president, General Oladipo Diya (rtd).

A combined team of military men, officials of the Lagos State Emergency Agency (LASEMA) and Lagos State Fire Service, were on ground to put out the inferno.

Also on ground at Gen Diya’s house located at Adekunle Fajuyi way, Ikeja GRA, Lagos, to assist the officials of the Lagos State Fire Service and Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) were the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni and Commander, Rapid Response Squad (RRS).

Although Diya was reportedly not at home as at the time of the incident, the fire was however, put out around 7:00 p.m. The fire, according to a source in the family, affected only roof and the rooms upstairs.

The source, who said the outbreak was caused by power surge, appreciated the efforts of the officials of the Lagos State Emergency Agency (LASEMA) and Lagos State Fire Service who were on ground to put out the inferno.

The source also disclosed that no casualty was recorded in the incident which he described as a satanic attempt to cause unhappiness in the family of the former military Vice-president.
