The Dust-free sanding solution introduced by Mirka is fast gaining acceptance in Nigeria.

Mirka is the pioneer in dust-free sanding solutions and has been for more than 15 years. Dust-free sanding saves time, money and the environment. The demand for more cost-effective methods and an increased awareness of health and safety issues has created an interest in Nigeria for the Mirka dust-free concept in the automotive refinishing sector.  The range of Mirka products were recently introduced to captains of industry at the 5th Nigeria Transport Awards and Lecture held at Ikeja Sheraton hotel, Lagos. The President and CEO of Mirka, Mr. Stefan Sjöberg says that Mirka has a very strong presence in the automotive refinishing trade.

According to him, “we are a very strong supplier for collision repair. We offer different systems and application solutions.” One innovation by Mirka is the OSP (Optimised Surface Preparation) system, which focuses on speed, control, simplicity and repeatability, standardised, step-by-step processes means predictable, consistent quality on every repair.

The simple system is easy to train, easy to understand and easy to supervise. Net sanding technology virtually eliminates the damage caused by dust pills and produces a consistent, even scratch pattern. It also creates a healthier workshop environment and saves time when there’s no need to clean up dust.

It’s not just abrasives that Mirka is known for: “Dust-free properties are always taken into consideration also when it comes to developing new tools.

Our electric tools are powerful, quiet and have low vibration levels. They are also the smallest and lightest on the market thanks to the use of brushless technology” Mr. Sjöberg states. The ergonomic properties of Mirka machines have been recognized by international design institutions, such as the Red Dot award. In 2014, Mirka® DEROS was awarded and now in 2017, the battery sander Mirka® AOS-B has just been announced recipient of the Red Dot Award in the Product Design category. With tools such as these, it’s possible to work for longer periods with less fatigue.

In order to make these solutions available in Nigeria, Mirka will focus on the bigger cities such as Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt, where the company wishes to identify and co-operate with active distributors. “Our ambitious target is that by 2020 dust-free sanding solutions will be used in the Authorized Body Shops in Nigeria. We also aim to establish a service unit for our electrical sanders and tools covering the south part of Nigeria up to Abuja.” Mr. Mark Enroth, Area Sales Manager says.

He plans regular visits to Nigeria to support partners and be in close contact with end users. Other solutions will also be launched, according to Mr. Enroth: “For the Bus and Truck service, we will additionally introduce our glass sanding solution for removing scratches from windows. This is a huge cost saving for the companies: instead of changing scratched windows the surface can be sanded and polished to be as good as new.”

This total innovative solutions of Mirka delivers real benefits to customers in terms of speed, first-class efficiency, surface finish quality and cost effectiveness, even when tackling the most demanding applications. The company, headquartered in Finland with 16 subsidiaries in Europe, North and South America, the Middle East, and Asia, currently exports its products to more than 100 countries around the world.
