Shettima Presents C of O of Military Varsity to Buratai

By Michael Olugbode in Maiduguri

In order to hasten the take-off of the Nigerian Army University proposed to be established in Biu, Borno State, Governor Kashim Shettima on Monday presented the Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) and surveyed site masterplan to the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. Gen. Yusuf Buratai.

Shettima also assured the COAS that the state government would fully support the establishment of the university and support its development.

He described the university as a unique and special tertiary institution that will be beneficial to the local community and the North-east region generally in terms of job creation and revenue.

The governor, while presenting the C of O to the army chief at the Council Chamber of the Government House, Maiduguri, said: “Siting a university in Borno State is not a little honour done to us. It will create a lot of job opportunities and involve the local community.”

He added that: “In fact, Borno State government and people are highly indebted to you and the Nigerian Army. I assure you that the university will be fully supported by the Borno State Government. We are even ever ready to provide you with more land if you need more for the university. You know Borno has the largest landmark in the North-east.”
