Umahi Recalls Accountant-General, Reshuffles Cabinet

Ebonyi State Governor, David Umahi has recalled the state Accountant-General (AG), Mrs. Queen Agwu who was suspended last year.

Though, the reason for her suspension was not made public, THISDAY gathered that she was suspended on the ground of incompetence.

 The governor has reshuffled his cabinet where four commissioners swapped their positions and also appointed 11 Senior Special Assistants and Special Assistants.

Briefing newsmen on the outcome of the state executive council meeting, the state Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, Sen. Emmanuel Onwe explained that former Commissioner for Solid Minerals, Chief Sabinus Nwankwegu was now in charge of the Ministry of Border, Peace and Conflict resolution, while former Commissioner for

Economic Empowerment and Job Creation, Donatus Njoku, had been posted to the Ministry of Environment. 

He added that the former Commissioner for Environment, Chief Moses Nomeh Ogodo-Ali, would henceforth man the ministry of Empowerment and Job Creation.

Former Senior Special Assistants (SSA) on Assembly Matters, Hon. Ikechukwu Ogbu, is now Special Assistant on Salt and Cement

Production; Former SSA on Cement and Salt Production, Sunday Ugwuocha, was redeployed as SA on Assembly Matters; former SA on Talent Development, Mrs. Jacinta Nworie has been moved as SA on Income Tax; former SA on Primary Health for Ebonyi North, Dr. Chris Achi, is now SA on Primary Health; former SA on Primary Health Ebonyi  Central, Mrs. Obianuju Aloh, has been posted to Information Communication Technology (ICT) as SA; former SA on Primary Health for Ebonyi South, Mr. Chikere Omebe, now SA on training and the former SA on ICT, Mr. Ajah Nwabueze has been made SA on Housing.

 Others are: former SA on Income Tax, Martins Okwuegbu is now SA on Internally Generated Revenue(IGR); former SA on Transport, Mr. Philip Eworo, now SA on Environment; former SA on Attitudinal Change, Pius

Eze, redeployed to Talent Development; Former SAs Women and Child covering the three senatorial zones were unbundled and moved into SAs on Industries on the basis of their respective districts of origin; former SA on Market, Mr. Peter Oba is now SA on Transport and SA on Interparty portfolio is expanded to include Civil Society Organizations headed by Mr. JOJ Oketa. 

The Information Commissioner further disclosed that Governor Umahi has also appointed 4 new SSAs and 8 SAs. They are SSA on Power in-charge

of EEDC/Renewable Energy, Hon. Ikechukwu Nwobo; SSA on Health

Services, Dr. Sunday Nwangele; SSA on Donor Agencies, Mrs. Ugo Nnachi,

SSA on Agricultural services, Prof. Ndubuisi Idenyi; SA on Solid

Minerals, Mrs. Elizabeth Onwe; SA on Youth mobilisation and

Empowerment, Mr. Mark Onu and SA on Water Resources, Mr. Joseph Egede.

 

Others include; SA on Cassava and Maize, Mr. Richard Idike; SA on

Capital City, Mr. Stanley Okoro Emeagha; SA on Market Development, Mr.

Peter Nwogbaga; SA on SMEs, Mr. Joseph Obasi and SA on Governor’s

Office, Mr. Silas Onu.

 

Onwe said that the EXCO committee on IGR has dissolved by the governor

and a new EXCO committee had been constituted in its place to be led

by the state Deputy Governor Dr. Eric Kelechi Igwe.
