CBN top shot, Bayo  Adelabu’s  headache

If the news available to Spy Glass is anything to go by,  then, the alleged moves by a deputy governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Bayo Adelabu,  to become the next governor of Oyo State may have suffered a hiccup.

Already, the respected  ex-banker,  who is a grandson of the late Adegoke  Adelabu, famously described as the strong man of Ibadan politics,  is being tipped as the successor to the  incumbent  governor, Abiola Ajimobi.

In fact,  until recently, Adelabu had enjoyed a warm relationship with Ajimobi.  But it appears there is no love lost between them now, owing to recent developments.

It was also gathered that both Ajimobi  and Adelabu,  who were protégés of the late businessman, Alao Arisekola,  had allegedly entered into an agreement of sorts towards ensuring the success of latter’s candidature in next governorship election in the state.

However, that may no longer hold water in the  face of an allegation that the  governor is no longer comfortable with Adelabu’s lack of loyalty.

It was further learnt that Adelabu had irked the governor  when he, in an effort to cement his political structure, allegedly  visited the APC stalwart, Bola Tinubu, secretly to seek his support in getting the party’s ticket.

Consequently, Ajimobi is said to be upset and has vowed to puncture

Adelabu’s governorship ambition.

A source hinted that the governor has decided to shop for a successor among his trusted aides,  as part of his alleged effort to truncate  Adelabu’s plans to rule the state come 2019.

Besides, another albatross in the way of Adelabu is the fact that he is said to  be popular only among the elite in Ibadan and not in the whole of Oyo State.
