Niger State Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello, has carried out a major administrative reshuffle which has led to the retirement of 16 permanent secretaries in the state civil service.
The governor also announced the appointment of 17 new permanent secretaries “based on merit and with immediate effect”.
Governor Bello also disclosed that eight permanent secretaries had been retained just as two others who were in acting capacities were confirmed.
In a statewide broadcast to mark the 2017 Democracy Day on Tuesday, the governor also said that he had directed the civil service commission to employ 250 fresh graduates into the state civil service.
“To further harness our full potentials in the state, the government has decided to create additional three ministries — Ministry of Forestry and Animal Development, Ministry of Solid Minerals Development and Ministry of Culture and Tourism.”
